Osteria Ai Maestri Trieste

This unassuming osteria in a quiet side-street of Trieste explodes with flavour. Nothing is required to disguise the dish - I ate salmon encrusted with pistachio, nothing more. Every morsel was transporting. I watched a vecchia signora lick the last bit of sauce from her knife. La semplicità- simplicity - is the vehicle for true sophistication.

Food was as simple as possible but it was delicious, w got the catch of the day. Nevertheless, we got shocked once a mother came and asked for a table but they said they don't have one . We could already see they had at least three table empty outide and two table empty inside. The mother was beging as one of the small children was super hungry and tried, but no means no for them!!

From the lackluster service to the underwhelming appetizers and appalling main dishes, this establishment managed to ruin what should have been a pleasant evening. Let's start with the service, which was, at best, mediocre. The staff appeared disinterested and failed to provide the level of attentiveness one would expect. While not outright rude, their lack of enthusiasm made it clear that they were just going through the motions. Now, onto the food, which can only be described as ordinary and heavy. The appetizers were lackluster, to say the least. They were rubbery and unremarkable, with only a mere sprinkling of oil for flavor. The baccala, touted as a specialty, was an absolute disappointment. The overwhelming amount of melted cheese completely overpowered any semblance of fish flavor, rendering it virtually tasteless. It was a classic case of quantity over quality. As if the appetizers weren't disappointing enough, the main dishes were a complete letdown. The scallops, which should have been the highlight of the meal, were overcooked to the point of being rubbery. All I could taste was an overpowering dose of olive oil, and the unpleasant smell only added to the overall unappealing experience. It was clear that the kitchen lacked the expertise and finesse required to execute such delicate dishes. To add insult to injury, the restaurant had the audacity to include the subpar meal on the bill without any consideration or apology. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, their response was arrogant and dismissive. They claimed that everything was produced as usual, showing a complete disregard for customer feedback and satisfaction. Needless to say, my mood was utterly ruined for the entire evening. It is disheartening to see a restaurant that not only fails to deliver on its promises but also treats its customers with such disrespect. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment. In conclusion, this restaurant's lackluster service, ordinary and heavy appetizers, unappetizing main dishes, and arrogant communication left me thoroughly disappointed. It was an evening that I would rather forget, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience.

I recently dined at a restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The swordfish dish I ordered was both excessively salty and overly spicy, making it difficult to enjoy. When I decided to send it back to the kitchen, I was disappointed to discover that there was no refund or compensation offered for the unsatisfactory dish, which I ultimately couldn't consume. Had a bad experience at this restaurant. Only the wine as good.
